BPA Regional Science Bowl

The BPA Regional Science Bowl is a fast-paced academic competition that tests student knowledge in all aspects of science: math, geology, chemistry, energy, physics, environmental science and more. The competition is round-robin, double elimination style and lasts all day on the campus of the University of Portland.

Middle School

  • 1st place: BASIS Independent School, Bellevue, Wash.
  • 2nd place: Redmond Middle School, Redmond, Wash. 
  • 3rd place: Evergreen Middle School, Redmond, Wash.

High School

  • 1st place: Mountain View High School, Vancouver, Wash.
  • 2nd place: Lake Oswego High School, Lake Oswego, Ore.
  • 3rd place: Westview High School, Beaverton, Ore.

SciClips Student Video Contest

  • Middle school winner: Willamette Valley Academy, Beaverton, Ore.
  • High school winner: Mountain View High School, Vancouver, Wash. 

2025 Science Bowl and SciClips Student Video Contest


Middle and high school students from counties in western and central Oregon and Washington State west of the Cascades, southwest Washington and the Olympic Peninsula are eligible to participate in the BPA Science Bowl. Registration is free. All competitors receive commemorative prizes, and the winners are invited to participate in an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the national competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Information on the 2025 Science Bowl and SciClips contest will be available beginning fall of 2024.
