Grid Access Transformation Project

The purpose of the Grid Access Transformation (GAT) project is to develop changes to BPA processes for evaluation and expansion of the Federal Columbia River Transmission System. GAT has six main topics:

  1. Network Integration Transmission Service Forecasts
  2. Evaluation Criteria
  3. Long-Term Firm Queue Management
  4. Interim Service
  5. Proactive Planning
  6. Accelerate Expansion 

BPA will address NITS Forecasts, Evaluation Criteria, LTF Queue Management and Interim Service in the TC-27 tariff proceeding process. Proactive Planning and Accelerate Expansion discussions are outside the scope of the TC-27 tariff proceeding and are addressed in a separate and distinct Future State engagement series.

Background: Some of BPA transmission processes were put on pause while staff evaluate potential solutions it will present to customers and the region in future public meetings. The goal is to make improvements to ensure the Federal Columbia River Transmission System (FCRTS) can reliably meet current and future needs
